How to create Custom Formats (with your specifications) in Typito

When distributing your videos on different marketing channels, it is essential to tailor your video according to the recommended specification(s) of the respective channel. The user interface of each marketing channel and your use case is different. The way viewers will engage with your video will depend on how well you optimize your video specifications for the native format.

You can easily create engaging videos with Custom Formats in Typito. Be it for a billboard video advertisement or a vertical banner ad for the Google Ad network.

Note: Custom Formats is a paid feature. You will be able to edit videos with custom formats for free, but you‘ll need to subscribe to one of the plans to export and download such videos.

Let us walk you through the steps to easily create Custom formats and use them in your video projects:

Step 1: When creating a project, you need to click on the option  + Custom format

Step 2:  Create a custom format by choosing the width, height, and padding percentage.

Here are the details you need to enter to create a Custom format:

Format name: This is a name for your reference. This will show up in the format selector when creating a project and format switcher in the edit experience.

Width: The width of the video in pixels (px)

Height: The height of the video in pixels (px)

Note: Height and width can be anywhere between 300 to 1920 px

Description: This is for your reference and our learning. We just want to learn how we can optimize the experience according to the use case you mention. Not a required field.

Padding: By default, a custom frame will be without padding. You can add padding (letterbox) on top/bottom by enabling this option. Padding is quite common in videos across social media channels like LinkedIn and Facebook.

To add padding, you just need to mention how much % of the video area should be occupied by the letterbox.

Step 3: Once you have defined the specifications of your Custom Format, click ‘Create Project’ to save the format. You can start a new project with the Custom format you just created. You will also find the new format in the Format selector.

Note: You can also create a format of the video while editing. You need to simply click on the pencil icon beside 'Format' and then click on 'Create a custom format'

You can now add video clips, text, graphics, images, and design and preview the video. Ready to export and download the video? If you have already subscribed to any of the paid plans, you can export the video with one click.
